Welcome to the Willerby Art Club

Established in 2014 the Willerby Art Club comprises a diverse group of artists with a wide range of interests and abilities. The club meets in Willerby Methodist Church (see Contact page for location) every Wednesday morning 10-12 throughout the year with a short break at Christmas. Light refreshments are available at the church café, The Square Well.

The ethos of Willerby Art Club is to encourage and expand a group of people sharing a common interest and enthusiasm for drawing and painting. Whilst we do not teach art, members are able to develop their own ideas with support, both from within the group and individually by the club's resident artist, Geoff Hewitt.

The club boasts a rolling exhibition of member’s work in the church café and a popular annual Open Exhibition, the Willerby Art Show, which is well attended by members, local art groups and professional artists.
Membership is welcomed from 18 yr olds upwards and is restricted to 20. Members pay £5 per week via our Bank Card Reader, by bank transfer or in cash. This fee includes any visiting artist demonstration or workshop event run by the resident artist.

Non-members are invited to attend demonstrations or events for a fee as listed in the programme.

Our Exhibition
Held soon after Easter, based in the Willerby Methodist Church and open to the public for three days, the Willerby Annual Art Show is an important event in the club’s programme. As an "Open Exhibition" the exhibition attracts entries from club members and submissions from local art groups in the county and other established artists.

In 2025 the Exhibition attracted 140 entries most of which were offered for sale with prices from £35 to £300. Submissions are open to all at a small cost per entry. This, together with a proportion of sales proceeds which are retained, help to fund promotion and staging the following year's exhibition. Feedback from the visiting public has always been positive as well as complimentary.
The Square Well is a café in the church which also serves as an exhibition space for members art. This is organised around a theme which changes every 2 months when a new selection of art is displayed, some of which are offered for sale to the public. Refreshments are available for purchase.
